Ziggy Marley | True To Myself | Dragonfly

www.ziggymarley.com A track off Ziggy's album Dragonfly. Never content to rehash the success of his past, Ziggy uses Dragonfly to explore new ground and create his own distinctive musical identity as a solo artist. "Working on my own gave me a chance to take my time and experiment a lot," says Ziggy. "It took one year to finish this record - it's the longest I've ever worked on one album. It's different when you're on your own. At some point it's scary, and then at another it's a drive that makes you focus more." Ziggy also felt it was time for a change of scene. He wrote the album's songs in Jamaica but recorded them in Miami and Los Angeles. "As an artist I need to experience different things, to see the world and have different energies. It helps me grow as a person to be outside my element." More ziggymarley.com

Ziggy Marley | Family Time | Family Time

www.ziggymarley.com A track off Ziggy's album Family Time. An easygoing journey of original tunes and a few covers, the album offers a full collection of family-oriented songs for those already familiar with Marley's beloved work in the genre, and may serve to introduce today's youngest generation to reggae. Highly listenable many times around, a quality that parents will appreciate, Family Time resonates with themes of love, responsibility, unity, freedom and fun (not to mention generosity - proceeds from the sale of Family Time will benefit Chepstowe Basic School in Port Antonio, Jamaica). "I know how important music can be in a child's growth and development, and in a parent's connection with their children," explains Marley, whose own brood recently grew to five. "This record represents my daily family life and is inspired by my three-year-old daughter Judah and baby Gideon. It was a joy to make and opened up new avenues in my creativity." http

Ziggy Marley | Into the Groove | Love is My Religion

www.ziggymarley.com A track from Ziggy's album Love is My Religion "This album is from my heart," Ziggy says of the album, originally released in July 2006. Love showcases Ziggy's keenly honed talents as a composer, producer, and musician. With all tracks written and produced by Ziggy, and shared production on three tracks with Grammy-winning producer Ross Hogarth, Marley also played a majority of the instruments on the album. Written "all over the world," with some songs penned during his youth, Love Is My Religion expands upon the personal, social and political themes explored in Ziggy's debut CD, Dragonfly. Its musical center is clearly reggae, peppered by African percussion and other flavors. Opening with the subversively danceable "Into the Groove," Ziggy delves into an upbeat meditation on finding one's self. On the title track, "Love is My Religion," his message is one that "people need to hear," a unifying devotion to love that "needs to be preached in churches and mosque and synagogues." The notion of overcoming stereotypes and superstition informs the slinky "Black Cat," while the romantic "Make Some Music" finds a partner in the mid-tempo "A Lifetime." more ziggymarley.com

Ziggy Marley | Jammin' in the Rain | Free Singles Collection

www.ziggymarley.com A track from Ziggy's Free Singles Collection From Ziggy: "Hail family, this version of Bob Marley's "Jammin'" ( in case someone doesn't know :) was recorded in Sao Paulo, Brazil during our tour with Shakira. I remember this song and this show specifically because the rain was gently falling on my head and it gave me a really good vibe. I called "Jammin'" instinctively as we were about to start "Black Cat", it wasn't planned, it wasn't on the set list, it was just a feeling. I always try and follow the truth inside of me. I wanted to share that vibe with you. It's called "Jammin' in the rain". Enjoy and we will talk soon. I will never forget thirty years ago. luv powah. Ziggy Marley" More: www.ziggymarley.com

Ziggy Marley Visits Little Kids Rock

Little Kids Rock provides free musical instruments and instruction for public school students who have been left behind due to budget cuts. We do this through the gracious support of our donors, as well as our Honorary Board Members, including Bonnie Raitt, Paul Simon, BB King and a host of other celebrated friends in the music industry. Instructors involved in the program use the unique Little Kids Rock methodology to teach students to play musical instruments. The program focuses on popular music styles that most students already listen to, including rock, blues, rap and hip-hop. Heavy emphasis is put on composition, improvisation and recording. Kids regularly get to record their own music, create CDs even make their own rock videos. One of the things that makes Little Kids Rock so successful is that after training teachers, the program can be up and running quickly and at no cost to the school. We build on the expertise and skills of music teachers and give schools the flexibility to offer classes within the core curriculum or as after-school enrichment. Because all instruments are donated free of cost, all kids have the chance to learn, play and rock out!

Ziggy Marley - Shalom Salaam

Buy the album here: www.amazon.com Quality: Video: MPEG4 Video (H264) 1280x720 24.00fps Audio: AAC 44100Hz stereo 61Kbps Info: Ziggy Marley and the Melody Makers have always been interested in music outside reggae, with the band of siblings moving from syth-pop sheen in the 1980s to a more mature and multi-genre sound in the late 90s. Dragonfly, Ziggy Marleys first solo effort, continues this trajectory. Featuring producers Ross Hogarth (Metallica, Jewel) and Scott Litt (REM), as well as special guests Flea, John Frusciante, David Lindley, and Incubuss Chris Kilmore, Dragonfly sounds closer to the adult contemporary music of recent Sting or REM than the reggae of his father. But even if the apple has fallen away from the music tree, Ziggys voice has the same forceful yearning and brittle timbre as his father; also like his father, Marley wears his politics on his sleeve (particularly on "Shalom Salaam" and "In The Name Of God") without being rudimentary. This may not sound like the record reggae enthusiasts pray to Jah for, but Marley succeeds on his own terms, creating a wide-ranging and appealing vision. --Tad Hendrickson Lyrics: Lost am I in my memories of my forefathers' legacy I am one of you you are one of me why don't we set the people free how I grieve to see fulfillment of prophecy naive of me to think things could change while man remain the same so war will be for me everyday no peace no peace for the children of Israel Gaza cries all the tears from her eyes ...
